"Perhaps it is only because man has failed to harness the main source of life, the great sea mass, that his fate seems so harsh.  Philosophers and thinkers have mediated the human condition for hundreds of years, but this condition was incomplete and the philosophies will have to be rethought.  Man cannot possibly have reached the zenith of his development nor taken his rightful place in the universe while three quarters of it lie amputated.  Economy, psychology, morals, will one day all have to be revised and civilization itself reconceived with the sea as an integral part."
